Year-round tax advisory and preparation from an Enrolled Agent in Tempe, Arizona. Serving retirees, widows and widowers, and small business owners. Two ways to work with us, and we will tell you honestly which one fits.

Tax Planning & Strategy

A year-round advisory relationship, billed monthly. For people whose tax situation involves real decisions: retirement withdrawals, Roth conversions, a business, a property sale, a transition. Includes your annual return federal and all required states, quarterly check-ins, a mid-year projection in June, a year-end strategy session in November, Roth conversion and retirement contribution modeling, email access answered within two business days, and IRS and state notice handling. Membership is capped at 25 clients.

Foundation Advisory Membership — Business

Everything in the Membership, plus your business entity return. Your S-corporation or partnership return (Form 1120-S or Form 1065) including K-1s for each owner, your personal return coordinated with the entity return, reasonable compensation review, retirement plan strategy across solo 401(k), SEP and defined benefit options, and QBI deduction planning. Bookkeeping cleanup, if your books need it, is quoted separately before the engagement begins.

Annual Tax Preparation

For clients who need the return prepared well and do not need year-round advisory. Simple, itemized, complex, high-complexity, and business entity returns. Every return is quoted in writing before work begins. Fees reflect the complexity of the return, not an hourly meter.

Tax Planning Advisory

Forward-looking planning for the decisions that actually move your outcome: Roth conversion sizing, retirement withdrawal sequencing, Social Security timing, Medicare and IRMAA thresholds, capital gains timing, charitable strategy, and entity structure. Available as part of the Membership or as a standalone engagement, quoted before work begins.

IRS Representation

As an Enrolled Agent, Stephen Hazel is federally licensed to represent taxpayers before the IRS in all fifty states. Notices, examinations, payment arrangements, and account resolution, including for returns we did not prepare. Notice handling is included for members. Examination and appeals representation is quoted separately.

Trust and Fiduciary Returns

Form 1041 trust returns and fiduciary filings for trustees and beneficiaries. Prepared, reviewed, and coordinated with the related individual returns where relevant. Quoted before work begins.

How the Year Actually Runs

Preparation and delivery

January to April

Documents come in through the secure portal. Your return is prepared, reviewed, and delivered with a written summary of what drove the result, not just a number.

Projection and strategy

June and November

A mid-year projection in June shows where the year is tracking and adjusts estimates if needed. The November strategy session covers conversions, harvesting, timing, charitable strategy, and retirement contributions, everything that has to happen before December 31.
